Anna: "Can I be done?"
Joe: "Okie doke."
[Anna jumps up and leaves the table]
Joe: "Hey! Hey, hey, dishes missy."
[Anna comes back and picks up her plate]
Joe: "How was school today?"
Anna: "Billy Frasier brought in a huge earthworm."
Joe: "Yeah?"
Anna: "I touched it. Disgusting!"
Joe: "Ugh. Come here. Let me see your hand. Oh, I can still feel the slime!"
Anna: "No you can't!" (laughs)
Joe: "I can! Ugh!"
Joe: "So what do you want to watch tonight?"
Anna: "Nemo!"
Joe: "Again? Come on! How about... Abbott and Costello."
Anna: "Nemo."
Joe: "Abbott and Costello meet Frankenstein? Come on, it's got Frankenstein!"
[Anna shakes her head, smiling]
Anna: "Dad? What is it?"
Joe: "It's just a dream sweetheart."
Anna: "'Kay."
Joe: "You see? Back to bed."
Anna: "'Kay."
Anna: "Can you make animal pancakes?"
Joe: "Can I make animal pancakes. What kind of animal pancakes do you want?"
Anna: "Elephant."
Joe: "Alright, well I don't know how to make an elephant, but how about a mouse?"
Anna: "Elephant."
Joe: [sighs] "Alright. One elephant pancake coming up."
Anna: "Stuff keeps disappearing in the room."
Joe: "What room?"
Anna: "The magic room."
Anna: "Okay. Pick one."
Joe: "You know I don't think we should be doing this."
Anna: "Just pick... pick a stuffed animal."
Joe: "Alright."
Anna: "Not Lester Barney Fish."
Joe: "Okay."
Anna: "Okay. This one."
Joe: "This one? You're sure?"
Anna: "Yeah, I'm sure." [Joe throws the toy into the room] "Now watch."
[When the door is opened again the toy has disappeared]
Anna: "Now watch this!" [She runs into the room and messes up the bedsheets]
Joe: "Hey Anna! Get back here! Anna what are you doing, come on. Get out of there."
[Anna runs back and shuts the door behind her]
Joe: "Okay. Experiment over, okay? That's it."
Anna: "Open it."
[Joe opens the door, and the bedsheets are neat again]
Joe: "No more, okay? Game over."
Anna: "Oh, dad."
Joe: "Listen, listen to me. I need you to make me a promise, alright? Not to tell anyone about the room, or the key, or anything else, alright?"
Anna: "Okay."
Joe: "Promise me."
Anna: "I promise."
Anna: "Do I have to get a shot?"
Joe: "No, I told you, it's not that kind of doctor. They just want to ask you some questions about what it's like to live here and stuff."
Anna: "Do I have to go?"
Joe: "Yeah. You do. These people just want to help us to make sure that we're doing good, and we are, right?"
Anna: "Yeah. Except for you not letting me stay up late."
Joe: "Well, you make sure and tell Doctor Gelman that."
Anna: "Okay."
Joe: "Alright."
Nurse: "Anna Miller."
Joe: "You're ready?"
Anna: "Yeah."
Joe: "Okay. Have fun, tell the truth."
Anna: "Okay. I will."
Anna: "Daddy!"
Weasel: "Hey Joe. Were my directions okay?"
Cronie: "What does the gun do?"
Joe: "It shoots bullets really fast." (to Anna) "It's gonna be okay."
Weasel: "Do you know what the pen can do, detective Miller? It can cook your daughter like a microwave. Here, let me show you."
Joe: "Stop!" [puts his gun on the floor]
Weasel: (to Anna) "Smart man, your father."
Joe: "I'll give you the key. You'll give me my daughter back. And then you'll leave, you understand?"
Weasel: "Of course."
Joe: "Anna! ANNA!"
Anna: "DADDY!"
