Elle started attending a private school in LA in 2007, she had previously been homeschooled all her life.

As of mid 2006, Elle has worn glasses full time except for at events and during filming. She currently has 2 favorite pairs.

Elle was spoofed by Avril Lavigne on SNL.

During the filming of Phoebe In Wonderland, Patricia Clarkson bought Elle "a beautiful little bracelet that said "LAUGH" at one of the teenager stores" in the Hamptons, New York.

When Dakota appeared on Ellen DeGeneres' talk show, the whole Fanning family was gifted with a matching set of pajamas. Elle's pajama suit was blue and had her name written across the back.

Every year for Christmas Elle gives the people in her family an ornament for the Christmas tree. Christmas 2005 she got Dakota an angel head.

Elle was given Vegemite, the Australian yeast spread, to taste as her "initiation" to Australia when she visited her big sister filming Charlotte's Web. Neither sister was very impressed by the black paste.

Elle and Dakota sell girl scout cookies around LA. In 2006 they sold 750 boxes and raised about $3000!

Elle and Dakota now have a dog, which is a Schnoodle. It's a mix between a poodle and a miniature schnauzer. She's very white and fluffy, with blonde hightlights down her back. It's name is Lewellen, after Dakota's character in Hounddog.

Elle does not get an allowance, as neither of her parents did when they were children, either.

Elle's favorite color is pink.

Elle and Dakota are afraid of thunderstorms and lightning.

Elle loves to draw.

A passion of Elle's is running her own lemonade stand. She wanted a menu, which would list "Cold Lemonade" (with ice) and "Hot Lemonade" (without ice).

Elle and Dakota both love to watch Fear Factor.

Elle has pictures of Marilyn Monroe in her room, and she also has a picture of Regis Philbin.

Elle is a devoted fan of Marilyn Monroe, and according to Dakota thinks she is the prettiest woman in the whole world, loves her clothes, wants a room like her and said that she thinks she looks like her.

On her 7th birthday, Elle went with her family to see Cirque du Soleil perform "Quidam" during its run in Melbourne, Australia.

Elle helps pick out the outfits that she and Dakota wear to red carpet premieres and events. They don't have a stylist. With the help of their mom and grandma, the girls lay out clothes on the bed and choose what they're going to wear.

Elle began writing cursive when she was 6. 

Elle was only three and a half years old when she attended her first Hollywood premiere 

Elle visited Mexico at the age of five, and celebrated her seventh birthday in Australia. She is very well travelled.

During the filming of a dramatic scene in The Door in the Floor, Elle's distraught performance was so realistic that she panicked her onscreen father, Jeff Bridges. She screamed, cried, and hit him, then after the take laughed and ran off to play with her toys. 

When they used to share a room, Elle's side was always the messiest and Dakota's was the neat side.

According to Dakota, Elle changes her mind at the drop of a hat and sometimes will change her outfit "ten times" a day, as the spirit takes her.

Dakota counts Elle as her favorite actress in the world. The sweet gesture is a return of the compliment Elle paid her big sister during an interview when she was only 5, saying "Dakota is my favorite actress."

Elle and her big sister Dakota are not allowed dogs or cats for pets, although they desperately want one. Dakota said - "She wants a white cat with a pink nose, but then it changes to a Chihuahua."

One of Elle's favorite shows as a toddler was "The Regis and Kelly Show", just like Dakota. At a picture signing for Regis, when she was 2 years old, Elle screamed "Regis! Regis!" because there was only one autograph per purchase.

Dakota would read Dr Seuss's book The Cat in the Hat "hundreds of times" to her when Elle was tiny. 

According to Dakota, Elle loves Care Bears more than anything in the world. 

Before Dakota began to act professionally she would perform role-plays. Elle used to play the role of newborn and Dakota would pretend to give Birth to Elle. 

Casting notes for the role of young Ruth Cole in Door in the Floor originally called for identical twins, believing the workload of the character to be too much for one little girl to take but they cast Elle, which just shows how talented this little girl is. 

Elle missed out on the Daddy Day Care premiere because she was in Mexico supporting Dakota on a movie she was filming. But two years later, Dakota returned the favor - she skipped the premiere of her film Lilo and Stitch 2 to support Elle in Mexico for her new film.

Elle's favorite part of baking cookies is to stir in "the chocolate, and putting in the chocolate chips," she says. "Sometimes I get to lick the spoon!"

According to Dakota, Elle wants to be a Barbie-doll when she grows up.

Elle takes piano lessons at home in Los Angeles.
